I'm thinking of making home-made wine...oh hoh...

Hi everyone, I hope you're having a great weekend.

I'm thinking of making home-made wine, so I've been reading up on it online... (yes I am aware that rhymed and it was unintentional). My father used to make home-made wine and some of it was pretty good (some was like drain cleaner and revolting and gave you the urge to wince and stick a leg up as you shuddered with the God-awful aftertaste).

I'm joking with the following names I've come up with but it's given me a few ideas for a story in the future possibly lol as we authors have a tendency to become inspired by just about everything around us in our day-to-day lives and we find inspiration everywhere!

Here's a few funny names I've thought of. I could write a farce-type comedy about it all, we'll see. There are many more but here's a taster and you may munch on a piece of cheese on a cracker or two while you read my wine list if you feel inclined to haha:

  1. Chateau a la Bumhole I'll make: 30%-proof, it will dislodge denture plates at ten paces and will give you the urge to dance on tables and sing in a foreign language, it'll be that strong.
  2. I may produce not Jacob's Creek, but Up The Creek Without a Paddle But You Won't Care As You'll Be As Pissed As a Fart, 35%-proof, featuring a rather fetching skull and crossbones on the label.
  3. Or what about instead of Blossom Hill, I'll make Bloody Hell; 50%-proof, and it'll make your legs quake and your eyeballs spin around at 20 degrees, then back again!
  4. Or the ultimate: Instead of Moet & Chandon, I'll create Mighty & Christthat'sawilddynamiteofadropofwineandit'smakingmynosetingle!

I will research and this lot will keep me busy for a while. If I do go ahead with making wine, I'll update on my blog with photographs, ooooo!
If I produce a not very nice wine, I'll look something like the cat's dragged in I expect...

Are you a hardcore horror fan?...

Hi everyone,

I write in several genres on Amazon: (Horror, various different thrillers, paranormal, comedy under my main pen name of A.K. Morgan and romance under my other pen name of Rosemary Quill and my debut romance novel is FREE at the moment, check it out) and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms from not writing my beloved hardcore horror stories, so hardcore horror fans...I'm working on something very very creepy, gory and downright enjoyable.

Update: After much thought, I'm now writing hard-core horror stories under a secret pen name as my family and close friends would probably blush, feel mortified and then faint if they knew, plus I find it easier to write darker works under a secret pen name than to write them under my main author name of A.K. Morgan (you can get into the right 'mood' and frame of mind writing in different genres under different pen names for each genre and also, it's easier for readers if they associate me (my main and real name of A.K. Morgan) with ONE genre (like thrillers or comedy) rather than me writing in several genres under the same name, including writing hard-core horror as well, as mild thrillers and hard-core horror stories, well they're as different as chalk and cheese really aren't they).

I suppose I'm a kind of method writer, like film actors; I prefer writing under a different pen name for each genre as it separates them in my mind and I get into the 'mood' for each one, properly, and it's easier for me to write this way too - rather than to lump all of my stories, all of the genres I write in, under the SAME name.
Picture the scene: a reader stumbles upon me one day, assumes accidentally that I write in one genre, sees all of my books on Amazon, wants to read a comedy and downloads a gruesome horror story by mistake - and is traumatised. Not good. (It would help enormously though if readers bother to read the 'look inside' bit under the book image on Amazon and the description of the book, the 'blurb' - before they click the purchase and download button, because some people don't bother to read what the book is about first, which would only take a few seconds, and then they moan about it later by leaving a shitty review.
Shitty reviews used to bother me, but now they don't, because at the end of the day I know that a lot of readers enjoy my stories and I focus on them and I write for them. The critics can swivel on a dildo for all I care (grins), because I'll have the last laugh years from now. Now I'm not saying that constructive criticism is a bad thing because it's not and I learn from that, but unnecessary criticism well, I simply ignore, as there are always people in this world who have nothing better to do than to slag hard-working authors off and it's sad. Like these critics' lives I suppose. Ah well, move on shall we. Hell, even famous authors have critics slagging them off and these authors let the insults bounce off them, so I shall do the same then too. Rise above it, keep writing more books, achieve success. And I will.

So, I've a decision to make soon: do I choose one genre only and stay with that and write in that with just the one pen name or do I have about six pen names, one each for six different genres. I'll decide soon, but I do know this, I love writing horror the most, but I also enjoy writing thrillers and comedy too, now and again, so I'll focus on writing mostly horror stories but will occasionally write in other genres in between.

Decisions decisions eh! Do any other authors feel this way? Comment please, thanks. :-)
